Facilities

[ Music Logo ] Few schools of our size can match our music facilities. Housed in elegant Sanborn Hall, the music department contains 57 classrooms, teaching studios and practice rooms. Our "Renaissance in Music" campaign of the last decade resulted in the building of Presser Hall (a modern instrumental rehearsal room), renovation of Sanborn Hall, purchase of the impressive Klais organ in Gray Chapel, and the renovation of Gray Chapel. The following is a brief description of our outstanding music facilities:

Kinnison Music Library houses a majority of the University music holdings: over 18,000 music books, periodicals, scores, ensemble music, recordings, and video tapes. The library also includes 12 listening stations.

PerformanceJemison Auditorium, a 229-seat recital hall used for solo and chamber music performances.

Kohn Choral Rehearsal Room provides rehearsal space for the Choral Art Society, vocal ensembles, and Opera Theater.

Steinway Grand Pianos are available for use by all keyboard majors.

Rexford Keller Memorial Organ (Johannes Klais Orgelbau) and four practice pipe organs are available for use by applied organ students. The largest of six Klais organs in the country, this instrument which is housed in Gray Chapel, is a four manual tracker action organ and has 82 ranks, 55 stops, and 4,522 pipes.

Presser Hall houses an instrumental rehearsal room for bands and orchestra, an instrument storage room and the Hageman Green Room, which is used for faculty and student meetings and receptions following concerts.
